“I Didn’t Raise My Boy To Be a . . . ” Mothers, Music, and Obligations of War

In this lesson, students will use the cover and lyrics from two popular songs, photographs, and primary sources to evaluate how popular culture sought to influence mothers’ support of the war and how the government recognized their sacrifice with Gold Star Mothers’ Pilgrimages.
