On Friday, July 24th, National History Day® (NHD) was notified of the elimination of the Education and Engagement and Exhibits departments at the Indiana Historical Society, including the termination of the Indiana Historical Society’s sponsorship of the state’s NHD affiliate program, National History Day in Indiana.
The Indiana Historical Society was a sponsoring institution of National History Day in Indiana for over 40 years, and we would like to thank members of the Education and Engagement department for supporting NHD’s mission to improve the teaching and learning of history in Indiana. It is because of their dedication that National History Day in Indiana has made such an impact on educators and students across the state.
NHD is actively seeking new institutional partnerships to continue the National History Day in Indiana program for students and teachers across Indiana. In the interim, we ask NHD students and teachers in Indiana to continue participating in NHD educational programs and working on their 2027 NHD projects, and NHD will update community members as soon as possible.
